Sugar-Crusted Grapefruit


  • 2 large grapefruit
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) cold butter
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) oatmeal or all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground cinnamon


  1. Preheat broiler on HIGH. Slice grapefruit in half using Grapefruit Knife. Separate segments from membrane using tip of Grapefruit Knife. Place grapefruit halves cut side up onto shallow, broiler-safe pan.

  2. Combine remaining ingredients in small bowl until crumbly using pastry blender or two forks. Sprinkle over grapefruit halves.

  3. Place pan as close as possible to heating element; broil 3-5 minutes or until sugar mixture is light golden brown and bubbly. Serve immediately.
