Easy Melon Ice

Create a frosty melon ice with just three ingredients. Watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew melon are equally refreshing.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups (1500 mL) cubed watermelon (4 1/2 pounds/2.1 kg with rind)
  • 1   lemon
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) sugar
  •  Edible flowers (optional)

Directions

  1. Carefully cut watermelon away from rind; cut into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes. On Large Grooved Cutting Board, finely chop melon using Food Chopper. Place melon and any juice in Classic Batter Bowl.

  2. Juice lemon to measure 3 tablespoons (45 mL) juice. Add lemon juice and sugar to watermelon; mix well.

  3. Divide fruit mixture evenly among 3 Ice Shaver Tubs; freeze until firm. Remove frozen mixture from tubs; shave using Ice Shaver. Garnish with edible flowers, if desired.

Cook's Tips:

If using cantaloupe, substitute cantaloupe melon (approximately 3 pounds with rind) for the watermelon and orange juice for the lemon juice.

If using honeydew, substitute honeydew melon (approximately 3 1/2 pounds with rind) for the watermelon and lime juice for the lemon juice.

To easily remove the frozen ice mixtures from the plastic tubs, line tubs with plastic wrap before filling.

Place the Chillzanne® Mini-Bowl in the freezer at the same time that you freeze the melon mixture. It will keep the shaved ice frosty for serving and can be used to store any leftovers.
