Grilled Garlic Bread

Turn simple into sensational with a savory grilled side that goes with just about any summertime meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (1 pound/450 g) Italian bread
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) butter or margarine, melted
  • 4   garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 1/2 tsp (7 mL) Lemon Rosemary Rub (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare grill for direct cooking over medium to medium-low coals. Using Bread Knife, cut bread in half lengthwise.

  2. Microwave butter in Small Micro-Cooker® on HIGH 45 seconds or until melted. Press garlic into butter using Garlic Press. Using Chef's Silicone Basting Brush, brush butter mixture generously over cut surfaces of bread; sprinkle with rub, if desired. Cut each half into six 2-inch (5 cm) slices.

  3. Place bread slices, buttered side down, on grid of grill. Grill, uncovered, 1 1/2-2 minutes on each side or until toasted, turning with BBQ Tongs.

Yield:

  • 12  servings of 1 bread slice

Cook's Tips:

If you prefer, substitute 1 tablespoon snipped fresh parsley for the seasoning mix.

To bake the garlic bread, wrap bread in aluminum foil and bake at 375°F for 15 minutes or until hot.
